CONSTRUCTION

Nomad IV was born from the imagination of the owner, Jean-Paul Rivière, who is passionate about sailing. He wished to build a prototype able to conciliate highest performances for race and luxury comfort in charter configuration.

To support him in this fantastic experience, he trusted François Boucher, a renowned sailor, as Project Manager.

Then, for the design they hired the french office Finot-Conq Architectes, Vendée Globe boats specialist and creators of the Open class, for the construction they chose the Italian shipyard Maxi Dolphin.

Nomad IV weighs nearly 54 tons, which makes her the lightest in her class. This has been made possible through her 100% carbon fiber construction.

All main parts of the boat (hull – keel – bulkheads) were calculated with specific finite element software, in order to enhance Nomad IV’s weight and strength.

Nomad IV has complied with the expected requirements ; this comfortable, luxurious sailboat for cruising also won the RORC Transatlantic Race in 2015 : Nomad IV has set a new record for the RTR of 10 days, 7 hours, 6 minutes and 59 seconds. At this time, she still is the record holder of the race on elapsed time and on corrected time.
